Abacus Preparation to Foster Training is a 4 day programme, which focuses on learning about the role of a foster carer and preparing you in becoming a foster carer. Abacus’ recognises that fostering is a life style and you will not be the only person who fosters, with this in mind in we also hold birth children, and family and friend work shops along side the preparation to foster programme.
Abacus fostering offers an excellent induction programme supporting you the new role of being a foster carer, the courses are geared to develop your skills and attributes needed for the fostering role.
Ongoing training is a must in your developing career as a foster carer. We provide both in-house and external training which focuses on your individual development and learning needs. We ensure that training is flexible, interesting, fun and dynamic and that it is useful to you in your role as foster carer.

These are provided directly by Abacus Fostering or by 3rd party training providers. We also actively support independent learning by Carers and Staff where appropriate.
